Advanced medical training in Germany

In co-operation with one of our partners - Facharztzentrum Rotenburg, www.rotenburg-faz.de - we will soon (probably in summer 2010) offer advanced medical trainings for iraqi doctors in Germany.

We are looking for post-graduate applicants who are interested especially in Internal Medicine with an emphasis on Diabetes care. Candidates should also have

  • at least two years work experience in a public clinic or PHC;
  • working knowledge of english and German (at least intermediate level)
  • good PC and Internet-skills.

The advanced training will last 12 to 18 months. Detailed information will be soon published here; or contact Karin by info (at) ser-ve.de

Counterfeit drugs

Again and again it is reported that a huge number of drugs which are available in Iraqi pharmacies, warehouses and clinics are counterfeit drugs.

Recently the Ministry of Health collected 100 samples of different drugs in various pharmacies and warehouses to test their efficacy. None of the samples reached the 100% effectiveness. [read more]

Diabetes specialists meet in Rome

Within the scope of the EASD congress (European Association for the Study of Diabetes) Dr. Strotmann, Germany, and Dr. Ali A. Mansour, Basrah, met in Rome.

Both are specialists in Diabetes care and took the chance to deepen their exchanges of ideas, which they started during the RHAZES webconferences in February and May.

As one result they agreed upon an exchange of data and the installation of a common data base. Furthermore they will try to organise local training courses for medical staff in Basrah as well as in Germany.

2nd Webconference on Diabetes

Encouraged by the success of our first webconference we will resume our discussion at the end of May. This will be our second conference on Diabetes in Iraq.

Lack of medication, expendables, equipment and statistical data has been acquired as major problems in diagnosis and treatment of diabetes. Additional there is no valid statistic database, so that an efficient procurement planning is hardly possible.

What can we all do to continually improve the situation of iraqi diabetes patients?

The main focus of the 2nd. webconference will be on Diabetes Type 2. Major themes will be ...

  • the necessity (or non-necessity?) to develop and implement a Diabetes screening;
  • several options for training and education of
    • physicians and nurses
    • patients
    • information multipliers.

Additional we will try to find ways for funding such projects. Read more ...
